This month, in celebration of Ohuhu’s 9th anniversary, we’re shining the spotlight on Korean artist @ar.nyang !
As one of our longest-standing collaborators, @ar.nyang has been part of the Ohuhu family for over 3 years. You may already recognize her charming style from our Instagram or even on our product packaging, where her art has reached customers all around the world.
At Ohuhu, we deeply value the artists who inspire our community, and we’re committed to growing alongside them—providing platforms, opportunities, and encouragement for more talented creators to be seen and celebrated.
To mark this special occasion, we interviewed ar.nyang to talk about her artistic journey, her creative process, and her experience working with Ohuhu over the years. Let’s dive in!
1. Your characters are incredibly charming and distinctive. How would you describe your art style, and what influences have shaped it?
I want to express a lot of round and cute feelings in my paintings. So I'm using soft curves and small points. I've worked as a game artist for quite a long time, so I think the human body techniques and shape-shaping skills I learned then helped me a lot. Basically, I was influenced by subculture and game style, but now I'm seeing and learning a lot of paintings in a wider genre such as commercial illustrations.
2. Your line work and coloring are always so clean and polished. What’s your approach to achieving that level of precision?
Regardless of what materials you use, I prefer to use it cleanly line. I'm trying to color it in an even way. I think that's what my personality is like. I think it is important to control the power of the hand holding the tool when coloring and drawing lines. For example, if you use too little force, the line will shake, and if you use too much force, the line will become thick. At important moments, I even hold my breath for a moment.
3. When did you first start using Ohuhu products? What do you love most about them?
I had the opportunity to try out several brands of alcohol markers three years ago, and Ohuhu's products were particularly impressive because they came in a variety of color tones. Since alcohol markers are difficult to mix colors with, having a variety of colors is a big advantage, and Ohuhu's markers have good color harmony, so there is a color that matches any theme of the picture. And it applies smoothly and evenly, and the color remains vivid even after drying. now, I think Ohuhu is by far the best marker. I often confidently recommend it to my followers who ask for marker recommendations.
4. How would you feel about your artwork being introduced to the Ohuhu community worldwide and becoming one of Ohuhu’s long-term creative partners?
Working with Ohuhu is always a pleasure and a series of surprises. I think it helps me keep thinking and creating new things.
And it's really great to get such a positive response from so many people in the Ohuhu community, and it motivates me to keep creating. I also believe that I have grown a lot during my time with Ohuhu, and I hope to grow even more in the future.
5. As we celebrate our anniversary, do you have any birthday wishes or messages you’d like to share with Ohuhu?
I am so happy to celebrate Ohuhu's anniversary three times. June, which is Ohuhu's anniversary month, has become a meaningful month for me as well. I am sincerely hope that Ohuhu marker will become the most popular marker in the world, and we are always looking forward to the art tools that will be released in Ohuhu.
Happy birthday, Ohuhu!
